I'm on a Facebook Hiatus

I've decided to take an extended break from Facebook.

It's almost embarrassing that it's even come to this point. In short, I got addicted to the dopamine. I'm not against Facebook, but I bet crack addicts aren't really against crack either.

So, time to change.

If I like what you do I'll still read your blog, maybe read your tweets and see your photos on Flickr. However, Facebook is too much like crack. I'm posting things and waiting for likes to happen, which is weird—I'm an adult and I'm still seeking approval from my peers.

No offense. I still love you, but it's time for me to take a step back from this social-media shtick and figure out what I'm really getting out of it. That's the reason I haven't responded to your friend request, commented on your status update, or liked your link to that Youtube video of the skateboarding dog.

If you feel the same way, consider doing the same.

The Facebook Hiatus Profile Pic

The best way to let people know you're on Facebook hiatus is to change your profile pic. Use the pic posted here to let your Facebook friends know that you won't be on for a bit.

Actually, the best way to let people you're on a Facebook hiatus is just to not use it anymore. They'll probably get the hint.
